Wayne Klippenstein has called Portage la Prairie and district home for the majority of his life. He grew up on the family farm west of Portage and is a graduate of Macgregor Collegiate Institute.
Immediately after high school Wayne pursued a career in accounting. He articled with the Portage la Prairie Chartered Accounting firm Gallaway Lapchuk and Nicoll and became a member of the Certified General Accountants Association of Manitoba in 1982. Wayne became a principal of the firm and enjoyed a 24 year career in public practice, where he had the privilege of serving his client in all areas of accounting, taxation and financial management needs.
Wayne became a shareholder and assumed the position of CFO for the Newton Group of Companies in 2001. Since joining Newton Enterprises Group of Companies, the entity has enjoyed considerable growth and has expanded truss manufacturing operations with Manufab Building Components Ltd in Brandon Manitoba and central Florida. In the Portage la Prairie market, Armwood Windows and Doors doubled manufacturing capacity in 2009 and Wayne was a key player in completing the expansion of retail operations in Portage as Newton Enterprises became the first independent RONA dealer in Western Canada.
Wayne believes in community involvement and it has been his pleasure to serve on the executive of the MacGregor Golf Club, MacGregor Mustangs High School Hockey and founding member of MacGregor Kinsmen Club.
Wayne is a past president of the Portage Rotary Club, past Chair of the Portage Chapter of Certified General Accountants Association of Manitoba and currently serves on the board and is the treasurer of the Community Foundation of Portage and District and is a founding executive member of the Portage Classic Hockey League.
Wayne and his wife Audrey made their home in Portage la Prairie .They have three children Trevor, Nicole and Holly who are married and have blessed them with eight beautiful grandchildren.
Wayne and Audrey are avid golfers and are members of the Portage Golf Club. Wayne also enjoys keeping active by playing hockey, riding his Harley Davidson and playing lead guitar with the band Strange Brew.
