Peggy May, CEO
Peggy May was born and raised in Winnipeg, and is proud to call Manitoba home.
Peggy's career has been a collection of dynamic experiences in the hospitality, entertainment and transportation industries. She began her career in Winnipeg in the hotel industry where she became entrenched in the tourism and hospitality community to raise Winnipeg's profile as a destination. She left her position of Director of Sales, Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza to join IMAX Corporation in 1989.
The next 15 years were spent managing and helping to develop the brand and distribution of IMAX theatres around the globe. During her tenure with IMAX Corporation she held progressively responsible roles in sales, operational management, training and marketing for international operations. Peggy was appointed Director of Affiliate Services for IMAX, managing market initiation for new theatres in Japan, China, India, Europe, and the U.S. She also conducted IMAX Theatre Management Training seminars worldwide to support proliferation of the IMAX experience.
Peggy joined Winnipeg Airports Authority in early 2003. Her most recent position as Director, Marketing and Commercial Partnerships, focused on revenue generation through commercial development, sponsorships, advertising, food and beverage and retail concessions. Peggy is proud of the contributions she made in the development of the new terminal. She was selected as one of the senior managers assigned to the "Activation Team" responsible to ensure the operational success of the new terminal. She also worked with the design team to develop the concession and customer service plans.
Peggy is a strategic leader with expertise in piloting organizations and delivering on the mission, vision and values of the organizations she has been responsible to. She excels at fostering relationships with stakeholders, partners, tenants, community and staff.
A community builder, supporter and volunteer, she has served and Chaired numerous boards and committees such as The Zoological Society of Manitoba, The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Manitoba Tourism Education Council and Skal Winnipeg Chapter. Currently she sits on the Board of Directors for the Air Cadet League of Manitoba, Regional Community Airports Council and Travel Manitoba.
Peggy has been married to Frank since high school. They have 2 grown children and 2 grandchildren. Free time is spent at their cottage at Lee River with family and friends with interests that include golfing, boating and snowmobiling.
