Dale Lyle

Wayne Klippenstein

Dale Lyle is a Manitoban at heart. He was born in Winnipeg and finished his high school years in Carman. He then moved to Neepawa to begin his career in municipal government. During his time there, he completed both the Certified General Accountant designation and the Certified Manitoba Municipal Administrator program. It was in Neepawa that Dale also met his wife Rhonda.

After receiving his education, Dale worked in public practice in British Columbia, as well as serving as the Chief Financial Officer of a publically listed mining exploration company. After 5 years, Dale and Rhonda, along with their two sons, Ben and Travis, returned to their roots in Manitoba. They reside in Portage la Prairie to this day.

Upon returning to Portage la Prairie, Dale used his municipal administration and management skills at the City of Portage la Prairie as Director of Finance and City Manager for nearly 20 years. During his tenure there, he focused on normalizing relations with the Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie and was instrumental in generating a regional focus on municipal government.

During his time with the City of Portage la Prairie, Dale was directly involved in the negotiations for the establishment of a regional planning district, regional water systems, and a regional landfill authority. He was also influential in the signing of the first comprehensive commercial/industrial property tax sharing agreement in Manitoba. Two other major projects, the creation of an agreement and managing authority for a $43 million recreation complex, as well as necessary infrastructure servicing for a potato processing facility, can both be attributed to his work.

After his retirement in 2013, Dale was one of the founding principals of Way To Go Consulting Inc., which was created to provide a variety of management and financial services for municipal governments.

Currently, Dale is a member of S.A.M. (Service Ability Mobility Inc.) and the Portage District General Hospital Foundation. He is also the past Chair of the Community Foundation of Portage and District and Manitoba Municipal Administrators Association. Dale enjoys remaining involved in his community.
