Southport Golf Club is Hiring
Southport is looking to grow its dedicated team with the addition of a full-time, Seasonal (starting May 2022), Clubhouse Cook, reporting to the Manager, Recreational Facilities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Taking customer orders, preparation, and production of food to required recipe specifications.
- Planning and managing food orders to ensure all items of an order are finished and served on time.
- Use of deep fryer, grill, oven, dispensers, and other equipment to prepare food items such as sandwiches, hamburgers, fries, salads, soups, and other food items.
- Portion, assemble and wrap food or place it directly on plates for service to patrons and package take-out food.
- Assist in food prep assignments during off-peak work periods.
- Oversee kitchen operations.
- Assist with staff training, supervision, and open communication with all clubhouse staff.
- May plan menus and daily specials.
- Maintain inventory and record of food, supplies, and equipment.
- Determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and tracking of food wastage.
- Handling, storage, and rotation of all food products and stamping the time and date on the food in refrigerators and freezers.
- Hourly temperature checks of refrigerated and frozen foods.
- Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas and equipment, including following any daily, weekly, or monthly cleaning schedules.
- Accurately operate electronic systems for processing payments and follow safe handling procedures for cash.
- May be required to wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using a dishwasher or by hand.
- Maintaining all provincial regulatory health codes.
- Follow appropriate Workplace Health and Safety Regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Short Order/Line Cook experience or on-the-job training in food preparation and sanitation techniques.
- Strong communication, teamwork and customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work individually and as part of a team; with minimal supervision.
- Ability to multi-task and work quickly and efficiently.
- Previous experience supervising staff.
- Experience with maintenance and cleaning services in a kitchen environment.
- Must be of legal age to serve alcohol.
- Current Smart Choices certification or be willing to obtain same upon hire.
- Food Handler’s Training Certificate or be willing to obtain same upon hire.
- Basic First Aid and CPR.
- Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time.
- Availability to work day, evening, and weekends, including some holidays.
