Southport Golf Club is Hiring

Southport is looking to grow its dedicated team with the addition of a full-time, Seasonal (starting May 2022), Clubhouse Cook, reporting to the Manager, Recreational Facilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Taking customer orders, preparation, and production of food to required recipe specifications.
  • Planning and managing food orders to ensure all items of an order are finished and served on time.
  • Use of deep fryer, grill, oven, dispensers, and other equipment to prepare food items such as sandwiches, hamburgers, fries, salads, soups, and other food items.
  • Portion, assemble and wrap food or place it directly on plates for service to patrons and package take-out food.
  • Assist in food prep assignments during off-peak work periods.
  • Oversee kitchen operations.
  • Assist with staff training, supervision, and open communication with all clubhouse staff.
  • May plan menus and daily specials.
  • Maintain inventory and record of food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and tracking of food wastage.
  • Handling, storage, and rotation of all food products and stamping the time and date on the food in refrigerators and freezers.
  • Hourly temperature checks of refrigerated and frozen foods.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas and equipment, including following any daily, weekly, or monthly cleaning schedules.
  • Accurately operate electronic systems for processing payments and follow safe handling procedures for cash.
  • May be required to wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using a dishwasher or by hand.
  • Maintaining all provincial regulatory health codes.
  • Follow appropriate Workplace Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Short Order/Line Cook experience or on-the-job training in food preparation and sanitation techniques.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work individually and as part of a team; with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and work quickly and efficiently.
  • Previous experience supervising staff.
  • Experience with maintenance and cleaning services in a kitchen environment.
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcohol.
  • Current Smart Choices certification or be willing to obtain same upon hire.
  • Food Handler’s Training Certificate or be willing to obtain same upon hire.
  • Basic First Aid and CPR.
  • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Availability to work day, evening, and weekends, including some holidays.
