Southport Aerospace Centre Inc. would like to acknowledge that Southport is located in Treaty 1 Territory and the lands are the Traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Ojibway, Oji-Cree, Dakota, Lakota, and Dene Peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation. Southport Aerospace Centre Inc., its Board of Directors and staff, respect the Treaties that were made on these territories and acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past. As an organization, Southport Aerospace Centre Inc. dedicates itself to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities and commits to a spirit of Reconciliation and collaboration for the future.
The Four Winds Cultural Centre, a representation of Southport's dedication to the local Indigenous community, joined Southport's Interpretive Park in 2021. Southport Aerospace Centre Inc. was honoured to officially introduce and welcome the community to the Four Winds Cultural Centre on September 30, 2021 for a ceremony and commemoration of the inaugural National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.
Southport looks forward to fostering ongoing and future collaborations and relationships with local Indigenous businesses and communities. The team at Southport Aerospace Centre Inc., along with the Board of Directors, hopes that the Four Winds Cultural Centre will become a space where rich Indigenous culture, heritage, and beauty can be acknowledged and celebrated for years to come.
