Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) Fire Chief

Southport is looking to grow its dedicated team with the addition of an Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) Fire Chief who is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of Southport Aerospace Centre’s aircraft rescue and firefighting operations, ensuring compliance with Transport Canada standards and Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) 323 requirements. 


Reporting to the Director, Airfield Services, the Fire Chief oversees a team of ARFF personnel, manages emergency response readiness, coordinates training, and ensures the highest level of safety for airfield operations. This role combines operational leadership with strategic planning to maintain readiness for aircraft-related emergencies, structural firefighting, and other incidents across the site.

Job Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership:

  • Direct daily operations of the ARFF department, ensuring readiness for immediate emergency response.
  • Establish, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures for aircraft rescue, firefighting, and hazardous materials incidents.
  • Ensure fire suppression systems, rescue vehicles, and firefighting equipment are operational, inspected, and maintained to regulatory standards.
  • Emergency Response
  • Serve as Incident Commander during aircraft emergencies, fires, hazardous material incidents, and other emergencies.
  • Coordinate with air traffic services, emergency medical services, law enforcement, and other agencies during incidents.
  • Lead post-incident reviews, investigations, and documentation.

Training & Compliance:

  • Develop and oversee training programs to maintain Transport Canada and ICAO certification for all ARFF staff.
  • Conduct regular live-fire training, simulated emergency drills, and skills maintenance exercises.
  • Maintain all required records for inspections, certifications, and compliance audits.
  • Personnel Management
  • Supervise, schedule, and evaluate ARFF staff, ensuring effective performance and professional development.
  • Foster a safety-conscious, team-oriented culture.
  • Address staffing needs, recruitment, and succession planning.
  • Budget & Resource Management
  • Prepare and manage the ARFF department budget, including staffing, training, equipment, and facility needs.
  • Monitor inventory of firefighting gear, protective equipment, and vehicle maintenance requirements.
  • Research and recommend new technologies, tools, and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive firefighting experience, with at least 1 year as Chief or 3 years as Deputy or Captain.
  • Experience in ARFF operations at an airport, military base, or aviation training facility would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage emergency response teams in high-stress situations.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Emergency Management or Equivalent experience
  • Fire Officer Level 2
  • Hazmat Incident Commander
  • EMR Qualified

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and crisis management skills.

Seasonal - Customer Service Representatives (Southport Golf Club)

Southport is seeking a Assistant Manager, Recreation (RecPlex). This position is a full-time, temporary position, anticipated start in May 2026 and to last approximately 12 Months. Reporting to the Manager, Recreational Facilities, the Assistant Manager, Recreation (RecPlex) oversees the daily operation of the Central Plains RecPlex by:

•    Providing exceptional customer service to all members of the Central Plains RecPlex.
•    Coordinating and managing daily recreation operations, including supervision of all part-time RecPlex staff members.
•    Participating in creation and achievement of all performance targets.
•    Assisting with budgeting for operational and capital requirements.
•    Manage Climbing Wall.

Key Responsibilities:

Administration:

  • In consultation with the Manager, Recreational Facilities, support the hiring, training, supervision, scheduling, and processing of timesheets for all Recreation staff.
  • Manage, follow, and keep all RecPlex staff apprised of all Workplace Health and Safety procedures.
  • Manage daily reconciliation and reporting of financials.
  • Implement new recreation and climbing/fitness programs.

  • Report on inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Process work orders through related electronic systems and programs for RecPlex related maintenance items.
  • Ensure the Climbing Wall is kept clean, safe, and functional condition.
  • Inspect and report on climbing equipment. (Shoes, harnesses, grigri, ropes, and anchors).
  • Inspect and schedule yearly maintenance for the wall and auto belays.
  • Ensure all workout equipment is maintained and in good repair throughout.

Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills necessary to relate to clients, staff, and the public.
  • Previous customer service experience in a recreational environment.
  • Previous experience in recreational promotion, marketing, and sales.
  • Previous experience supervising staff.
  • Previous experience performing administrative duties, budgeting, and reporting for fiscal purposes.
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcohol.

Guest Services Cleaning Technician

Southport is looking to grow its dedicated team with the addition of a full-time Guest Services/Cleaning Service Technician. Working closely with the Supervisor, Accommodations, Properties and reporting directly to the Manager, Properties, the Guest Services/Cleaning Service Technician is responsible for:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to our guests.
  • Efficiently handling any function of the front office from the reception to guest accounting, reservations, telephones, and guest check-in and out, in accordance with hotel policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring guest rooms and public areas are clean and well-maintained, while also assisting guests with their needs to ensure a pleasant stay. This position requires attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Accurately register all guests arriving at the hotel in compliance with hotel policies and procedures.
  • Make room reservations and prepare guests keys, when necessary.
  • Ensure all guest registration cards are correctly completed and filed appropriately.
  • Charge all credit cards using point-of-sale authorization terminals.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests and complains are resolved promptly and efficiently, escalating issues to management when necessary.
  • Clean and maintain guest rooms according to established standards, including making beds, vacuuming, dusting, and replenishing amenities.

Marketing Assistant Summer Student

Southport is looking for a Marketing Assistant Summer Student - Full-Time Term (April – September 2026).  Reporting to the Manager, Business Development, the Marketing Assistant will work directly with the Marketing Team.  This role offers an excellent opportunity for a student to gain practical experience in the marketing area while contributing to exciting projects within a fast-paced environment.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the marketing team with all marketing activities, including:
    • Developing and executing marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital, social media, email, and traditional marketing.
    • Assist in the creation of marketing materials, such as brochures, flyers, presentations, advertisements, and other literature.
    • The production of a wide range of communications.
    • Assist in maintaining and updating digital marketing platforms, including websites, social media profiles/sites and websites.
    • Collaborate with internal teams, including properties, recreation, and recruitment to ensure marketing initiatives align with overall business objectives.

Seasonal - Customer Service Representatives (Southport Golf Club)

Southport is looking to grow its dedicated team with the addition of both full-time and part-time Seasonal - Customer Service Representatives at Southport Golf Club and/or Central Plains RecPlex for the 2026 golf season (spring to fall 2026) with variable schedules; up to full-time hours during peak golf season. Preference will be given to candidates who can remain until the end of the season, either in a full-time or part-time capacity. There is potential for this position to transition to the RecPlex at the end of golf season should operational requirements allow. This role supports the Assistant Managers, Recreation by:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to all members of the Southport Golf Club Clubhouse, Central Plains RecPlex, or Southport Bowl, and at the as required.
  • Performs daily duties to ensure smooth operations at either the Southport Golf Club Clubhouse, Central Plains RecPlex, or Southport Bowl efficiently and accurately including reception, food and money handling, and tasks as assigned.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform all opening and closing procedures correctly.
  • Assist with familiarizing new recreation staff, as required.
  • Assist with coordinating recreation programs and events, as required.
  • Accurately operate electronic systems for processing payments and follow safe handling procedures for cash.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and functional environment across all areas (Southport Golf Club Clubhouse, Central Plains RecPlex, or Southport Bowl).
  • Facilitate preventative maintenance for facilities and equipment.
  • Provide and foster a culture of exceptional customer service with co-workers.
  • Assist with maintaining memberships and coordinating facility rentals.

Job Requirements:

  • 18+ (Must be of legal age to serve alcohol.)
  • Excellent public relations, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in the hospitality and restaurant sector is preferred.
  • Previous experience performing administrative duties and knowledge in MS Office 2007.
  • The ability to accurately operate electronic systems and follow safe handling procedures for cash when processing payments would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with maintenance and cleaning services in a recreation environment would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in Recreation customer service would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and passion for sport an asset.
  • Current Smart Choices certification or be willing to obtain same upon hire.
  • Food Handler’s Training Certificate or be willing to obtain same upon hire.
  • Basic First Aid and CPR would be considered an asset.
  • The ability to work individually and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work day, evening and weekend shifts and holidays.

Seasonal - Recreation Program Coordinator

Southport is looking for applicants for Seasonal – Recreation Program Coordinator at Central Plains RecPlex and Southport Golf Club (as required). Start date: As early as June 29, 2026, and ending August 28, 2026. Recreation Program Coordinators are responsible for planning, organizing, and leading youth day camps and other recreation programs throughout the summer season. This role is hands-on and dynamic, requiring strong leadership, creativity, and a commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for participants. Coordinators will develop weekly camp schedules, lead a variety of sports and activities, facilitate youth cooking classes, and ensure the overall wellbeing of all participants. This position includes managing program supplies, equipment inventory, and maintaining clean, organized program spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Planning & Coordination:

  • Develop detailed weekly camp schedules that include sports, games, creative activities, and use of Southport Bowl, the Central Plains RecPlex gymnasium, and rock-climbing facilities on-site.
  • Plan and facilitate a variety of recreational and sport-based activities suitable for ages 6-12.
  • Organize and lead youth cooking classes, including preparation, supervision, and food safety oversight.
  • Adapt programming to accommodate varying skill levels, abilities, and weather conditions.

Program Leadership:

  • Lead daily activities with enthusiasm, professionalism, and strong group management skills.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants.
  • Act as a role model and uphold high standards of behaviour and sportsmanship.
  • Ensure active supervision of participants at all times.

Participant Safety & Wellbeing:

  • Monitor the physical and emotional wellbeing of all participants.
  • Enforce safety procedures and respond appropriately to incidents or emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and incident documentation as required.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding program updates or concerns.

Facility & Equipment Management:

  • Maintain an organized inventory of program supplies and sports equipment.
  • Coordinate purchases of food and equipment supplies with Assistant Manager, Recreation.
  • Ensure program spaces are clean, safe, and properly set up before and after use.
  • Support general facility cleanliness during and following daily programming.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children and youth in camp, sport, or recreation settings preferred
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead multiple sports and recreational activities confidently.
  • Experience facilitating cooking or basic food preparation activities is an asset.
  • Valid First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).
  • Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).

Facilities Maintenance Summer Student

Southport is looking for a Facilities Maintenance Summer Student – Full-Time Term (April – August 2026); this position has been created to provide quality summer work experiences for young peoples, candidates must be between the ages of 16 to 29 years to apply.  The Facilities Maintenance Summer Student is responsible for supporting facilities operation by performing grounds keeping duties on site and providing support to facilities technicians for projects and daily duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with facilities maintenance.
  • Performing manual labour and other duties as may be required for the effective and efficient operation of Southport.
  • Complete maintenance tasks as assigned following safe work procedures.
  • Assisting with maintenance, repair, and operations of Southport Commercial and Residential areas.
  • Utilize a diverse range of hand, power tools and instruments.
  • All other jobs as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous maintenance or landscaping experience would be considered an asset.
  • Work tasks are performed predominantly outdoors and involve physical strength, endurance, and manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Requires walking and standing for long periods of time.  The duration of time will vary dependent on the specific task being accomplished.
  • Must be able to exert, lift, and carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds regular and perform manual labour for extended periods of time in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work outdoors for long periods of time, often in hot or inclement weather.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team, with minimum supervision.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent prioritizing, multi-tasking, and critical thinking skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s licence.
  • Basic Administrative Duties.
