Manager, Airfield Services

Southport is looking to grow its dedicated team with the addition of Manager, Airfield Services is responsible for the maintenance, safety, and operational readiness of all airside roads, runways, taxiways, grounds, and the operation, maintenance, inspection, and certification of navigational aid equipment and related systems at Southport Airport.

Reporting to the Director, Site Services, the Manager directs all airfield equipment operations and maintenance including Snow and Ice Control (SNIC), turf care, and seasonal programs, and ensures the fleet is dependable and ready for year-round demands. They lead a team of one Lead Hand, one Navigational lead, five Airfield Maintenance Technicians (AMT), one Airfield electrician, one Nav Aids tech, and two Real Seal–certified Heavy Duty (HD) Mechanics, providing clear direction, performance support, and coordination with internal teams and contractors to maintain uninterrupted airfield operations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Airside Pavements Maintenance:

  • Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and repair of all airside pavements, including asphalt, line painting, pothole repairs, and general surface upkeep.
  • Monitor and manage airport signage and airside drainage systems to ensure safe and compliant operations.

Operations & Maintenance Navigational Aids:

  • Oversee daily operation, preventative maintenance, and calibration of all navigational aids, lighting systems, and airfield electronic equipment.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance on all airfield communications, radar, navigational and landing aids.
  • Ensure reliable performance of systems such as ILS, NDB, VOR, PAPI, runway/taxiway lighting, and approach lighting systems.
  • Schedule and conduct regular inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and regulatory requirements

Regulatory Compliance & Certification:

  • Maintain compliance with Transport Canada, NAV CANADA, and International Civil Aviation Organizations (ICAO) standards for navigational aid systems.
  • Liaison with NAV CANADA on behalf of Southport
  • Document regular testing, flight checks, and certifications to maintain operational approval.
  • Ensure all maintenance logs, service records, and compliance reports are accurate and up to date. 

Safety, Compliance, & Risk Management:

  • Ensure all airside and grounds activities comply with relevant federal, provincial, and municipal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify hazards, deficiencies, and maintenance needs across pavements, grounds, and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Lead the setup, optimization, and continuous improvement of systems and processes, including troubleshooting and IT coordination.
  • Support risk mitigation activities and ensure alignment with Southport’s Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Responsible for the Groundskeeping portion of Southport’s SMS program, including management of the Wildlife Management program, ensuring proactive risk reduction and regulatory compliance.

Seasonal Operations:

  • Plan, lead, and supervise all snow and ice control (SNIC) activities to maintain safe and accessible runways, taxiways, aprons, and airside routes.
  • Ensure summer and SNIC operations meet contract and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate pre-event planning for major snowfalls, including resource allocation, equipment readiness, contractor coordination, and proactive communication.
  • Manage seasonal cleanup activities (spring/fall), including leaf removal, surface preparation, and die/pack marking.
  • Coordinate winter maintenance operations with Flight Dispatch, including staffing, training, scheduling mechanics/technicians, and managing materials and chemicals.
  • Maintain inventories of snow and ice control materials and ensure all equipment is functional and serviced.
  • Conduct seasonal evaluations of all movement-area paint markings.

Team Leadership & Coordination:

  • Lead, schedule, and supervise HD Mechanics, AMTs to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work practices.
  • Ensure a positive serviceability rate on all equipment.
  • Complete required operational reports, documentation, and regulatory records.
  • Provide training, coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to support specialized work and timely project completion.
  • Represent Southport in stakeholder discussions and maintain open communication with internal and external partners.
  • Deliver performance-based reporting aligned with contract and operational requirements.
  • Ensure staff comply with all safety protocols.

Budget & Resource Management:

  • Assist in preparing and managing annual budgets for roads and grounds maintenance, and recommend capital improvements.
  • Monitor expenditures to ensure cost-effective use of materials, labour, and contracted services.
  • Participate in equipment procurement, including research, vendor engagement, and recommendations.
  • Maintain inventories of equipment, tools, and supplies to ensure operational readiness.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and airport maintenance standards.

Position Requirements:

  • Diploma, certification, or equivalent experience in Airfield Maintenance, Civil Works, Horticulture, or a related field (required).
  • Training in heavy equipment operation, snow removal, or turf management (preferred).
  • Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) or membership with IAAE (asset).
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, airfield, municipal, or industrial maintenance environments.
  • Minimum 3+ years experience leading teams, scheduling staff, and managing operational or contract performance.
  • Experience with airfield snow and ice control programs (asset).
  • Experience collaborating with vendors, contractors, and external partners.
  • Experience maintaining or coordinating repairs for heavy equipment such as plows, loaders, mowers, sweepers, and graders.

Technology Programs and Governance Lead

What You'll Do:

Technology Strategy & Program Delivery

  • Maintain and execute Southport’s multi-year technology roadmap in alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Lead enterprise technology projects, system implementations, and technology improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with departments to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service delivery, and decision-making through technology.
  • Lead change management activities to support the successful implementation and adoption of new systems, processes, and technologies.

Governance, Risk & Cybersecurity

  • Maintain Southport’s technology governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures.

  • Provide governance and oversight of Southport’s cybersecurity program in collaboration with managed security service providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor technology and cybersecurity risks and coordinate appropriate risk mitigation activities.
  • Lead data governance practices related to data ownership, classification, access, retention, and information lifecycle management.
  • Coordinate business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and continuous improvement. 

Vendor & Service Provider Management

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for technology vendors, managed service providers, consultants, and implementation partners.
  • Monitor vendor performance through service level agreements, key performance indicators, and regular service reviews.
  • Coordinate technology contracts, renewals, licensing, budgeting, and lifecycle planning.
  • Support technology procurement, vendor evaluations, RFPs, contract recommendations, and technology due diligence.
  • Ensure third-party technology solutions meet Southport’s operational, security, governance, and integration requirements.

Business Technology Partnership

  • Work collaboratively with departments to understand operational challenges and translate business needs into practical technology solutions.
  • Coordinate technology issue resolution with external service providers and implementation partners.
  • Support IT asset management, inventory, equipment coordination, and lifecycle planning.
  • Provide senior leadership with clear reporting and recommendations regarding technology initiatives, risks, budgets, and performance.

What you Bring:

  • Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Technology, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience, including at least 3 years leading technology initiatives, governance programs, or enterprise projects.
  • Experience leading technology projects and system implementations.
  • Experience managing third-party technology vendors, consultants, and managed service providers.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity, technology governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and support successful technology adoption.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to translate operational needs into technology solutions.
  • Excellent project management, communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to influence and lead across departments without direct supervisory authority.

Project Coordinator

Southport is seeking an organized, collaborative, and detail-oriented Project Coordinator to join our team.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator will support the planning and delivery of capital and infrastructure projects, with a primary focus on projects supporting the Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) Program. The position supports project scheduling, cost tracking, procurement and contract administration, document control, stakeholder coordination, and construction activities.

What You'll Do:

The following key activities include, but are not limited to:

Project Coordination & Scheduling

  • Support the coordination and execution of capital and infrastructure projects from planning through construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Maintain project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and action items and track progress against established requirements.
  • Assist with project updates, progress reports, cost reports, and stakeholder briefings.
  • Maintain project risk, issue, change, and decision logs and escalate concerns as appropriate.
  • Support coordination between project activities, contractors, consultants, and internal departments.
  • Provide reasonable cross-coverage and support for project management activities during periods of absence or operational need, within the scope of the position's assigned authority.

Project Documentation & Administrative

  • Maintain accurate and current project records and document control systems.
  • Coordinate and track drawings, specifications, RFIs, RFQs, shop drawings, submittals, design revisions, change documentation, purchase orders, correspondence, and other project information.
  • Ensure project documentation is appropriately distributed, filed, and routed for review and approval.
  • Maintain electronic project databases, document management systems, and file-sharing sites.
  • Support accurate recordkeeping in accordance with contractual, regulatory, funding, and organizational requirements.

Financial, Procurement & Contract Support

  • Support procurement and contract administration activities, including tender documentation, submission coordination, vendor communications, and procurement records.
  • Maintain project cost tracking, budget updates, commitments, forecasts, and cost reports under the direction of the Project Manager.
  • Support invoice processing, cost coding, billing schedules, purchase orders, and other project financial administration in coordination with Finance.
  • Maintain and track change documentation, contract amendments, and related project records.

Meetings & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate and participate in project meetings involving internal departments, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and distribute accurate meeting minutes and maintain follow-up and action-item tracking.
  • Liaise with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal departments to support timely communication and resolution of project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain positive and professional working relationships with project stakeholders.

Safety, Quality & Project Closeout

  • Support project compliance with applicable contractual, regulatory, quality, and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Support project commissioning and closeout activities, including tracking deficiencies, as-built drawings, warranties, operation and maintenance manuals, and turnover documentation.
  • Assist with ensuring required project records and deliverables are complete and appropriately transferred at project closeout.
  • Provide additional project coordination and technical administrative support as required.

What You Bring:

  • Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering technology, project management, business administration, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • 1–3 years of related experience in project coordination, construction administration, engineering, infrastructure, or a related environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and other project documentation.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities, deadlines, and project requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Guest Services Cleaning Technician

Southport is looking to grow its dedicated team with the addition of a full-time Guest Services/Cleaning Service Technician. Working closely with the Supervisor, Accommodations, Properties and reporting directly to the Manager, Properties, the Guest Services/Cleaning Service Technician is responsible for:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to our guests.
  • Efficiently handling any function of the front office from the reception to guest accounting, reservations, telephones, and guest check-in and out, in accordance with hotel policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring guest rooms and public areas are clean and well-maintained, while also assisting guests with their needs to ensure a pleasant stay. This position requires attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Accurately register all guests arriving at the hotel in compliance with hotel policies and procedures.
  • Make room reservations and prepare guests keys, when necessary.
  • Ensure all guest registration cards are correctly completed and filed appropriately.
  • Charge all credit cards using point-of-sale authorization terminals.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests and complains are resolved promptly and efficiently, escalating issues to management when necessary.
  • Clean and maintain guest rooms according to established standards, including making beds, vacuuming, dusting, and replenishing amenities.
  • Clean and maintain public areas, including hallways, lobbies, kitchen, and dining areas, to ensure a welcoming and clean environment for guests.
  • Dust work surfaces, vending machines, ATMs, other furniture, and other horizontal and vertical surfaces, including blinds.
  • Clean restrooms including toilets, urinals, partitions, sinks, counters, mirrors, floors, and walls and replenish restroom dispensers with paper products and soap.
  • Clean entrance glass and other interior glass.
  • Remove trash and recycling from containers and replace liners.
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as vacuum cleaners and floor scrubbers.
  • Conduct all work in accordance with company procedures, including safety, room and building security, time and attendance, and dress policies.
  • Always maintain a professional and courteous demeanor, representing the hotel in a positive manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in housekeeping or guest services preferred, but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with guests and staff.

  • Must have the ability to work independently and as a team member.

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.

Customer Service Representatives - Part-Time

Southport is looking to grow its dedicated team with the addition of a part-time Customer Service Representative. This role supports the Assistant Managers, Recreation by:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to all members of the Central Plains RecPlex, Southport Bowl, and at the Southport Golf Club Clubhouse, as required.
  • Performs daily duties to ensure smooth operations at either the Central Plains RecPlex, Southport Bowl, or Southport Golf Club Clubhouse efficiently and accurately including reception, food handling, and bowling alley tasks.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform all opening and closing procedures correctly.
  • Assist with familiarizing new recreation staff, as required.
  • Assist with coordinating recreation programs and classes, as required.
  • Accurately operate electronic systems for processing payments and follow safe handling procedures for cash.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and functional environment across all areas (Central Plains RecPlex, Southport Bowl, or Southport Golf Club Clubhouse).
  • Facilitate preventative maintenance for facilities and equipment.
  • Process work orders through related electronic systems and programs for RecPlex, Southport Bowl related maintenance concerns.
  • Provide and foster a culture of exceptional customer service with co-workers.
  • Assist with maintaining memberships and coordinating facility rentals.
  • Tend to duties associated with the food kiosk and Southport Bowl.

Job Requirements:

  • 18+ (Must be of legal age to serve alcohol.)
  • Excellent public relations, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience performing administrative duties and knowledge in MS Office 2007.
  • The ability to accurately operate electronic systems and follow safe handling procedures for cash when processing payments would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with maintenance and cleaning services in a recreation environment would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in Recreation customer service would be considered an asset.
  • Current Smart Choices certification or be willing to obtain same upon hire.
  • Food Handler’s Training Certificate or be willing to obtain same upon hire.
  • Basic First Aid and CPR would be considered an asset.
  • The ability to work individually and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work day, evening and weekend shifts and holidays.
